The Markham Moor Inn has stood quietly on the side of the Old Great North Road for over 350 years and has seen English history in the making. The grade two listed property was purchased in 1999 by husband and wife, Stephen and Laura Heath. Although the building was dilapidated and the garden overgrown, it was clear that it had potential. Over the years, Stephen and Laura have fully refurbished the interior and exterior and added a large extension to the restaurant. The Inn now boasts a public bar, lounge bar, restaurant, nine bedrooms and an outside garden with a children's play area.
Stephen is classically trained and now has over 35 years of kitchen experience in both the UK and Middle East. He is a highly skilled and seasoned professional chef who delivers consistently excellent plates of food. Laura has been working in the catering and hospitality industry for over 30 years. The Inn's high standard of service and relaxed ambiance is largely due to her front of house management.
